What oil should i be using??

Going to do an oil change now, my 190 is getting on and it has 169000 miles on the clock, what oil should i be using ??

A Moggy,Merky and a Toy, are they all well behaved.

Re the oil,any top grade Synthetic will do nicely. Use an MB filter,they are better tham the coppies, and only £2 more

Oh yes very well behaved, the moggy is my life saver, My Toy is very fast but expensive and my Merc is lovely, cant fault it :)



Synthetic ah right, never used it, any benefits from it? should i use europarts for my filters?

No, go to the parts counter at the dealer. They're really not very expensive at all for filters etc.

For oil, wherever is cheapest I suppose.

Ok, i shall go to MB in Truro. I really want the engine in tip top shape and i need to rely on it, so shouldnt i use a good oil?

Yes, use the best oil you can afford - but shop around, because prices vary wildly.

Also definitely try Makro or Costco if you have a card, because they often have deals on branded oils.

avoid Mobil I distributed between july and Aug this year. to date we have had to rebuild approx 70 Benz engines because of a problem with this batch of oil. and Mobil I are paying the tab.

Now you have got me seriously worried, I just changed my oil and used Mobil1 purchased at beginning of Sept from Halfords. How was the faulty oil packaged, 1 lt, 4lt or 5 lt containers, have you any batch numbers as I still have a couple of 5 litre lots recently bought.

Is there any more info out there, I did a quick Google but found nothing so far.
