Hi everyone

Little help needed, i have got my nice XJ6 with no RUST!, a rarity in it's own! but she has now done about 162000 miles, what oil do you think would be best?

it's a 2.9 single cam.

Just go for a good brand of synthetic, there cant be much, if any difference in the top brands.

I have used semi synthetic in my man 3.6 XJS for the last 17 years. Now 79k miles.

A word of caution:
I put good stuff in my 3.5 V8 Range Rover, 79K miles too, and it seemed to be a bit thin when hot and the oil light flickered on at tick over at about 500 rpm. Duckams 20/50, what it used originally, restored sanity.

I was thinking the same, fully synth may be a little thin. There was an excellent article in a recent Octane magazine on not using fully synthetic oil in older engines.

Don't bother with all that fancy (expensive) synthetic stuff, just use a decent mineral 10w40 and change it OFTEN.

Just my tuppence worth :)
