Not meaning to highjack this posting. Any idea what make of oil comes in Mercedes part number MA001 989 07 03 for a 722.609 gearbox in the W210? I used to use Castrol Transmax M in the W202 (and still do in others) with good results but thought it safe(r) to now use the Merc product in this newer generation box. Just curious to know if anyone knows who actually makes it for Mercedes and if it is actuaaly as good or better than Transmax M.

Shell now have a special fully synthetic that is specifically designed for diesel engines. It is called Rimula Ultra 10/40. Helix Ultra and Mobil 1 are more aimed at the petrol engines, even though they claim suitability for diesel engines too. Mobil have a special fully synthetic diesel oil too called Delvac (can't remember the exact name). With the different requirements of diesel engines, I am inclined towards the ones specially designed for diesels. The biggest disadvantage is ready availability. I buy mine at Shell distributors in 20L drums.
