What Runs the SAT NAV on a 2006 R171 SLK?

Hi I have a problem with the Sat Nav. It will not run the DVD. Is the sat nave actually run by the DVD unit in the boot or by the command unit in the car. I am thinking of replacing the DVD unit in the boot with another one, or is the problem with the unit in the car? Yes probably a difficult question to answer.

My 2008 R171 has Comand NTG2.5 which has a 6CD changer as part of the unit, the satnav runs from the unit's HDD, not from a DVD (you upload map updates from DVD onto the HDD). Do you have Comand? You may need to use a VIN decoder to get the build sheet for your car and see exact.y what ICE your car has.

Yes command with DVD Sat Nav Unit in the boot

The DVD provides the map data.
What exactly is your problem.
I would be inclined on cleaning the lens in the DVD reader at the back as a first

I think its NTG1 in the earlier cars.... with a DVD nav only drive in the boot

fake discs need to be of a certain type to play, my fathers car refused to spit out the disc, I thought it was empty and it ate 2 and made horrid noises, I pulled it to bits and goodness knows how 3 years on its still working

my omega forgot how to eject the disc, but worked, then once u got it to wake behaves OK for a few years.... then the ejects goes back to asleep. there's a few posts for Mercs saying pull the power to the drive and wait 10 mins then try again

NTG1 can have an update for time of arrival.... oddly goes in the front unit, maps ONLY go in the boot

As I said earlier, put you VIN into a VIN decoder to get the build sheet for your car (or contact comand.co.uk with your VIN) to find out the specs of what you have, use only MB genuine DVD's - comand.co.uk will be able to sort it for you!

Took the battery off overnight and on putting the battery back on it seems to have reset itself. So all working well.
