Search drop down

I like the system a lot. Needs tweeking though. As Joe says: 'roadster' does not need to be specified in SL. In any case an SLC is not a roadster, but a coupe.
'SL (R107-R129-R230)' would be fine I'm sure. Is an SLC not a R107.

The system is simple for the new user, and yet powerful for those more used to it, especially the Advanced Search. But.......

Regards the drop down in advanced search does not seem to be working for specific cars. I tried Search for 'WHEELS' within 'SL (R1.....)' on 'all forums' and again on 'TEST FORUMS' and got no result. When I searched 'WHEELS' within 'all cars' on 'TEST FORUMS' selected, it found my test thread. Maybe its just a glitch.

PS. Best Paddy's Day wishes from me and my daughter here in Ireland to you, VB, & all ya guys taking time out to help him.

happy St Patricks day.

i still think we may be going a bit too complicated!

the search is okay but all the threads....i still think that we may lose people as we are starting to head like the yank site with threads for everything....tech section then drops to possible problems is enough mif you then drop to what car type we are narrowing the prospect of somepopel finding what they are looking for...

again...if a guy with a a-class has a wheel wobble that can be cured exactly the same way as it would by someone with an S class and that was the only posting where it was stated how would our a class guy notice?

some problems are mercedes specific but no always model specific. and so are the fixes.

you can still do a search on all areas though joe, which is the same as it always has been. i would rather search within my relevant vehicle category first in case the problem is model specific and then widen the search if there are no relevant answers.

So maybe, so that we dont lose users more prominence and useage instructions should be given to the search facility, what do you think?

It is as pascal says on the back burner. Once the new forum layout is 'nailed down' I'll get some more test forums up to show possible usages of having 'car type' input at time the thread is started, and also some pages to help people to post fuller information when they submit a question.

Hopefuly this will be by later this week/early next.
