Hi,

I have a '97 c36 and the clock illumination has deminished down to barely visible.  It was working fine on Monday, but yesterday I noticed on the way home down the motorway that the time wasn't visible.  If I stare at it I can just make out the time, but it gets dangerous on the highway!

Turning the lights on and off makes no difference.

Has anyone experienced this before?  Is there anything I can check before I dash into the dealership??

Thanks
Dave

What time is it?

I had that fault on my dash, the local MB garage fixed it by changing 1 bulb.  Mine was the left half of the heaterpanel that was out, including other lights on the center console.  Try 'whipping them out' and apply some grease, then put them back.

My console is working fine now, just thgis stupid clock

I find that if I bang the dash in the right place on my 1994 C180e I can get my indicators to work, I also find the wiper in posistion 1 works as well (these cut out sometimes). MB said they couldn't  find the faults.

Also, if one of the bulbs behind the rev counter goes, a thump normally puts it right.

What time is it?

hehe

That was the first thing I tried ;-)
I have noticed that it is slightly brighter after being sat for the night, then it gets dimmer as I drive the car.

Wierd

How diofficult is it to take the dashboard to bits (console out).

Another thing I want to do is take the steering wheel off, but I don't know how, all my other cars haven't had a SRS steering wheel, I am stumped.  Any ideas?

When the steering wheel comes off , the dealte has to reset somthing or  or the airbag light is on . The dealer changed my dash bulb too .. but , it still did not work.
