In a fit of greed I've sold my Shooting Brake.

I got an incredibly good offer from WBAC that meant I've had two and half years of depreciation free motoring.
That leaves me with what to get next.
It needs to be either a V8 or an Estate, or both ;), but I've set myself a limit of £10K and hope to spend significantly less than that.
It needs to be petrol.
I'd like it to be a Mercedes and I do find the estates incredibly useful but I'd also be quite happy in something like a CL.

I would prefer a lower road tax bracket. The CLS was £160 a year so that would be ok.
I live in Bedfordshire but happy to travel.
So if anyone on the forum is selling a well looked after car, I have the cash waiting, and I know some of you guys are whizzes at finding gems on Autotrader.
Suggestions welcome. :)

Not a lot of help with a new car for you.
I have been considering doing the same with our 3 year old V220. Not only three years depreciation free but actually make a decent profit but…

£10k should get a nice MB V8, pre 2006 are still £360 rfl though, E500 ??.

Thanks for the input. Yes, I loved my car but in practical terms I think I've made the right move in getting rid of diesel.

If it's the CL I go for I like the 2007 on shape better than the earlier ones.
E500 or E55 estates would be sweet but I've not looked at prices yet.
Another one that springs to mind is the R class! Certainly big enough!

I'm warming to the idea of the R class.
A 500 would be great but what's the 350 petrol like?
Also do all the rear seats come out easily to make one huge luxury van?

s5tuart!! I thought you would give me first refusal? ;)

Don't worry, we've already decided to keep the E-class...

One of the reasons we are keeping the old E-Class...
Indeed! Even looking round for an old shed to tide me over while I find my next Merc I'm surprised at the prices of stuff!
But, I have done the right thing getting rid of EGRs and DPFs and AdBlue in my opinion.

We don't have Adblue, but - touch wood - the EGR and the DPF have been no trouble at all on our car. Still original after 12 years and 108,000 miles. I have yet to hear of an MB with a genuinely failed DPF - but I am sure someone will prove me wrong shortly...

Well, to tide me over I've bought a 2012 Focus Estate.
1 owner and FSH although at 10 years old and 71K miles no mention of a cam belt or water pump change!

A Merc it's not but now I can continue to be a LFB ( lazy fat bast***) and hardly walk anywhere until a Merc discovers me.

Focus is fine. There’s often one attached to my bumper, so they must be quick.

Well done on getting a good price from WBAC, they made an appallingly low ball offer on my SL55.

I think the idea of a merc estate or shooting brake is a good one, how about an E63 estate ?

I'd love one! But I need to factor in rfl and insurance costs
There are some nice E500 estates around too, also E55 would be sweet.
