Hi Everyone, being new to MB and feel that I have almost reached the pinacle of vehicle ownership. What do I need to check before buying and old 6.2 NA w204. I'm not user what an Oasis report is and what else I should check. General vehicle check can give dvla mileage checks but I saw a car that had a fantastic MB service histyory and MOT historybut the firt dvla recorded mileage was 56 k then the first mot at 18K!! alarm bells or just unreliable dvla data. Given that these older V8s are not sold through the MB network I feel a bit like a swimmer in a sea of sharks. I coud ask for a PDI document and service records, are thes service records available on with MB? Independants will obvioulsy need paperwork proof. Also how can I get a service schedule for the w204 C63 so that I can check that all the work that should have been done has actually been done.
I hope you can feel may appreciation glowing for some good savvy advice.

Above all, get a pre purchase inspection from a Mercedes specialist.
It may cost £100/£150 but its money well spent if it saves you buying a pup.

It's an old car now, the older engines have their issues and as stated above, hard to find one not abused.
Do not touch a remapped car.

If you can get the Vin# or registration, there are friendly specialists that can supply the service history.
If the car is from a dealer, they should provide a printout of the full service history.
Main dealers don't give the service history unless you can prove prior ownership in the form if the V5 and some ID.
Using the Vin# you can check the options the car has using a data card decoding website such as

Great cars, wonderful soundtrack, high running costs and poor economy leads to a car that often has many previous owners.
Once the itch has been scratched and the true cost of maintaining and servicing the car is clear, many are just shifted on for the next owner to fix/pay for.
Choose wisely, preferably one owned by an enthusiast of an owners forum with full service history and previous MOT mileages that stack up with the service records.
Good luck.
