What to look for on 250D

Hello MBOA. I am within * * <---- that close, of buying an E plate 250D at the right money with 79k miles. Can anyone please give me advise as to what to look for under the bonnet. Me not at all mechanically minded!

Fuel economy? assuming commuting from South Devon to Oxfordshire and back (400 miles) each day.

I had a 250D for 18 months, lovely car, totally reliable, but drastically under powered.

mine iused to average about 33/35 mpg.

Thank you for taking the time out to respond. Er.... I bought my 250 and I have to say that I wish the alarm bells had been ringing from reading your message. It's a terribly underpowered car.

Great fun, though, and I am really enjoying being part of the Mercedes family at last. Just wish I had gotten one a lot earlier.
