Can you advise on Towing Pressure for towing with a 2017 GLS 350d.
Do I just go on the Max Tyre Pressure for fully laden as indicated on the plate on the car for all 4 tyres,
or is their a specific tyre pressure required for towing,
I have 295 / 40 / R21's
Thanks

The noseweight of a trailer on a towball should be no more than 5-7% of the MTPLM or less if the towball or trailer hitch specs de-rate this weight, Tyre pressure ratings should be advised in your OM.

Tyre pressures should be as advised (most likely in the fuel filler cap) - I'd use the upper recommended pressure - depending upon what is also in the boot / back seat of the car.

Thanks Yes Nose weight is well in and I check it each time with a calibrated gauge, Yes been using Pressures advised in the OM but that is for fully laden, nothing with regards towing.

Thanks, yes that is what I have been going with, for fully laden, just wasn't sure if there was one specifically for towing

Tyre pressures are set for carrying weight

An empty car with driver and one passenger is light pressures

A car with 4 adults (large car) or 2 adults and 2 children aged around 12~14 (its based on average weight) plus standard luggage for all in car for a week away would be high pressures.

A trailer, properly loaded and presenting correct nose weight (40 to 90kg) regardless of size/weight of trailer, would equate to high pressures for the car (plus most trailer tyres are around the 50psi mark)... the only extra weight for the car loading is the nose weight.... NOT the trailer weight.

all trailer weight affects (if all are properly loaded) is the engine/ clutch/ brakes required for the extra weight.......... do not excede the MAM of trailer plus car plus passengers etc.

Thank you, Yes I town a Twin Axel Caravan, and do not Exceed the MAM of the Car or Caravan, With the GLS 350, its would take some going to exceed the mam. :). Intrestinlgly the Plates Pressure for the Caravan Tyres is only 29 PSI, it actually came down when I had the Weight Plate Upgraded.

Malcolm is assuming a single axle. Tyre pressures on my twin axle are similar to yours at around 30psi
