What version of Comand do I have?

Does anyone know what version of Comand I have in my 1998 S-Class (W140), please?

I would like to obtain a more up-to-date CD ROM than the one I have installed at present.

Why, have you won the lottery. I hope your sitting down. Around £113 at the last count. You could buy a brand new, up to date sat nav with european maps and a host of other features for that.

Unfortunately not.

But it IS Comand albeit basic comapred with, for instance, TomTom.

I'm not sure if it was an option at the time, or was fitted as standard.

Mine is a 1998 LWB Business Edition.

Just looked up the version you gave me on Google, Malcolm. I'm afraid the display is not like the one I have fitted - mine is more basic than that, and no colour.

If it helps, mine has a monochrome display of arrows and turn 'countdowns', and a VERY polite female voice. No Postcode entry - Address entry only.

Jez, what does it say on your current CD?, should tell you if it is DX or more than likely none DX as I don't think the DX version came out till late 2000.

BEWARE... buying discs from Ebay is a big mistake. Most are counterfeit copies and just will not work even if you select the right one from the many for sale.

Mmmmm - you are probably right

OK - assume that the version I have, is the original - 1998. Where would you suggest I get a more up-to-date disc from - including Europe (France and Spain) WITHOUT paying OTT prices from a Dealer?

Strange how this sort of technology has been getting cheaper and cheaper since its inception....all that is except for MB's command system.

The disks went up because a new version came out that included TMC (The £92 disk didnt have it) plus they bundled in the major roads of western europe. So for an extra £21 you got TMC plus europe! Thats a lot cheaper than it was before.
