I've been looking for a pair of xenon headlight units for my 2011 E220, cheapest I've found so far is £425 each, I have been offered a pair of led units for £199 each, is there much difference? Can the led ones be converted?

Thanks Tony

The prefacelift 212 didn’t have LED units so they will be aftermarket units and not legal. The big xenon units will be but you also need headlamp washers and self levelling or it won’t pass an MOT

and ballasts and the right wiring.

Bit of an outlay.

Dont you have xenons already and recently rectified the ballast issue. You keep spending on that car,

ps ask Mercserve when you go in for the cooler job

Yes I already have the xenon units but they are more expensive than the led units which look exactly same, which is why I was asking if there is a difference.

At a local breakers yard to me, a 2010 e220 estate with a caved in rear end, the yard owner told me the lights were less and not xenon, but they look the same as my xenons0

If you can eyeball the units out of the car get the part number or pop off the bulb cover on the back and look for an HiD bulb or look for a lightning symbol on the unit. Any of those say HiD not LED.

Is the 2011 car pre or post face-lift? From memory it's pre but I could be wrong and there were no led units offered on that car I think?

They might be thinking they are LED because they say intelligent lighting system on them, they are just normal Xenon with cornering functions and automatic dipping
