Morning all,

Just lifted the cover to start the process of checking for leaks (exhaust fume whiff in the cabin) and noticed this immediately:

This car is new to me so it's the first time lifting the lid. Does anyone know what it is or where it should be plugged into?

Many thanks!

Does it have a resistor across 2 of the connections?

I'll go check again after the weather stops thrashing down. Is this a modification you're thinking it is or something that has been missed?

See if it has a resistor in the middle two terminals ?

It's a workaround if the inlet port shut off motor has gone u/s.
Some pre emt that and fit earlier.
As it's adapting emissions kit it is an MOT failure and illegal.

It's a bit like walking on the cracks in the pavement, some one would be offended.

and I apologise to all those I have offended by my light hearted approach to such a serious matter. My silliness does not portray my usual attitude and should not be emulated in such a way that others might be encouraged by my such joviality.

You're excused although silliness in today's climate is very much a punishable offense I believe!

Interesting that Star mentions it to be a blank connector, I've never seen that before especially without a blank on the end to keep it clean.

I've booked it in to Mercserve Nottingham on Thursday as one day of driving in traffic with those fumes was not pleasant. There's no tar on the injectors, no diesel around the fuel filter or HP pump, but the air box to turbo intake doesn't look so healthy.

If anyone else has this issue the answer is that the wire is from an earlier model and just not connected to anything on this one.

Fumes wise, injector seals 4 and 6 need replacing and the blowing had left a tiny bit of the black death.

MercServe said they do not use the thicker Nissan copper injector seals, they prefer the Mercedes ones. Fair enough.

it looks like its on a breather pipe - inlet shutoff is a few thin wires not a great big hose? that "conduit" is enough for 17 houses fibre connection
