Whats This?

Morning All, Apologies if I posted this in the wrong place but can someone tell me what this part is please. The car is a W210 220 cdi Auto - 2001 "51". as you stand looking at the front of the car, this part is on the right hand side, above the wheel arch. It looks like a filter in a plastic casing with sponge round it??? Answers on a postcard, please!

looks like a fuel filter off my mower.

It is an air filter to stop rubbish getting into the Vacuum valve that is pictured on the far left of the pic.

There will be 2 (Valves) on your car, one to control the turbo wastegate, and another to control the EGR valve.

The one on the RHS as you look at the car is for the EGR, the other is under a vacuum tank at about the same place on the left.

Should be no need to clean/ replace them.
