What happens if you check wheel alignment without using a spreader bar?

The guy ignore the instruction to fit the bar - and carried on. Although all readings were within spec?

Would the spreader bar change readings substantially (i.e enough to make it show out of spec?)

it depends on what type of tools they used, newer ones like the Laser type don't use anything but a steering wheel locator lock and line up tools for the Laser on each wheel, its all modern gear today

yet on the latest hunter system (811) the on screen display tells the operator to fit an spreader bar -

so I assume it is still needed even by the new optical/camera systems

if it said to fit the spreader bar then he should have done so, he must be useing the proper tools i just cant understand why he should cut corners, i would have him do it againg to the correct spec afterall you paid for it
