Hi guys,
Another daft question ..
I toom my E into a quikfit to have the balance and tracking done. They did the balance but said the tracking required the car to be weighted down so it was a dealer job. I took it to the specialist who did a 4 wheel track for £50, but it still didn't feel right so I took it to a local independent tyre fitter who had fitted the tyres 2 years ago (I was going through the old bills and noticed they had tracked it before - obvious really as I never change tyres without having the track done at the same time - doh!) who went over it again £20!. The car is great now, steering tighter and more direct and no vibration finally! Feels as tight as the new loan car i had last week.

I noticed a chap wheeling several bags of what looked like concrete away from the bay my car was in - is "weighted down" just load up the boot?
Also, are there different ways of setting up the geometry as I presume the first chap did it right, but its a different class now. The manager said something like "set it to plus 1" to the guy doing the job. This mean anything?
Just curious.
ta all.

Hi if your car is a 210 estate there is a set hieght for the rear of the vehicle there is a special clamp that fit's on to the chassis to pull it down to a fixed hieght, putting any load in the back wouldn't alter this as the vehicle comes with self leveling suspension, on all other MB vehicles the car should be ready to drive that is all fluids topped up to max including a full tank of fuel but no driver, I some times put 25 litre water botles in the boot to simulate a full tank of fuel. hope this helps
