Wheel and knob, minging.

I always thought I was fussy about my car, but recently my gear knob felt a bit sticky, so gave the gear knob and steering wheel a good clean with Leather wipes, WOW, they was minging! I know they say a Keyboard has more germs, than a toilet seat, a gear knob and steering wheel can't be far behind, yuk!

When I clean my car I use a soft nail brush on the grained plastic and pretty much everywhere. I use a bit of wash powder in hot water. Its great for agitating the dirt and indeed shocking how much dirt is lifted.

If no one else uses your car, then its your germs lol

As a side I have been restoring my old VW T25 camper.

I literally took every fitting out and washed it.

The steering wheel I put under the shower and scrubbed as above. What flowed off was black.

I had a Volvo T5 S70 some years ago. When I got it the steering wheel was so dirty you could scrape the crud off with a finger nail. It took a day with baby wipes and cloths to get it all off. Gear knob wasn't a lot better.
It was disgusting.

With a cream/beige interior I'm a little anal about keeping the cockpit clean. I have a leather cleaning kit (donated by a friend who bought a sofa from Land Of Leather), that actually works really well. But I fully understand how dirty things can get.
