Wheel arch trims

I can't afford to get my wheel arches resprayed (damned rust!) So I was thinking about fitting those stainless steel wheel arch 'protectors'. (Unless there are any budding bodywork wanabees in the South Wales area). Has anyone got these fitted and where do I get them from? Are there different sorts available? I'd like them to fit properly and look good if I'm going to the effort of researching them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Please don't do it.

They look terrible and tacky.

Get the rust repaired properly.

To be honest, that's the reply I was expecting. Think I'll have to get myself armed with my 'wet and dry' and Kurust again...

Do you just sand it down a bit then splash a bit of colour matching Kurust on? Not my ideal response to the problem, but arguably the most 'cost-efficient'! :)

I try to put Kurust on the inside of the arches as best I can also. It seems to 'soak' in quite well

Hi lyndonri

The only lasting solution will be to have the rust shot-blasted away and chemically treated before painting to stop rust breaking out again. This needs to be done to both sides of the affected panels which means their removal, if possible. This work is expensive because it is labour intensive.

Wheel arch trims only mask the problem which is likely to spread more rapidly as a result of the trim. If you intend keeping the car, you only have one option.
