Hi, as a new owner I wonder if anyone has an answer for me, I recently purchased a 2002 C 180 and it is fitted with the pressed steel wheels, I have purchased a set of Mercedes alloys from a 2003 model (C 180) what I need to know is are the wheel bolts/nuts used for for the steel wheels the same as used on the alloys, or will I need to get specific alloy wheel bolts/nuts? Thanking you in hopes someone can help. larchlap.:confused:

Hello and welcome to the forum. What you need to know is if your car has 12mm or 14mm wheel bolts, when the bolt is placed in the hole there should be 18mm sticking out from the rear of the wheel, to go into the hub

Check the measurement as Malcolm says, the chances are you will need some different bolts as the models supplied with four alloys on the road and a steel spare are supplied with five shorter bolts to be used when fitting the steel spare. Failure to use the shorter bolts on a steel wheel wrecks the H/brake mechanism inside the rear discs ;)

Shops like Top Gear sell the bolts for £1 each chrome plated, MB painted bolts are £1.80 each

The do last for 5 mins or a little longer if you leave the car in the garage, or leave the new bolts in the plastic bag :rolleyes::confused::rolleyes:
