I have a W123 200 1981. I have recently purchased and luv it. I am experiencing a hum from front near side wheel area and after 30 min drive, when I stop and smell the wheel. minor burning is obvious. On full right hand lock I am getting a squeek. The beast pulls slightly to the left when driving but not obvious under braking. Is this the wheel bearing or something else. I am in Liverpool and any idea's of a local spares source. Never owned one before but really want to keep on to thisun.
My Email address is johnmonev@btopenworld.com
Any suggestions really appreciated. Sick of going to Road Range Liverpool and speaking to smug parts staff, ridiculing my choice of steed, pointing out £30k plus state of the art (no soul) when in reallity they probably drive a new rover with alloys and a spoiler, yunno, full of character stuff.
Any way, probably guessed dont like new cars, won't drive the wifes.
Help me sort the beast.
Cheers!

PS Struggling to find classic white in aerosol and manual for servicing/easy repairs.
Car was registered 18/09/1981.

wheel noise

Hi

They all drift to the left. No much you can do yourself. The squeak could be the lock stops on the suspension or a lower ball joint. Difficult to say without listening to it.

As for the hum. If its a wheel bearing, you can usually hear it by jacking the vehicle up and spinning the relevant wheel and listen to the hub. If you can hear the humming noise its more than likely the bearing. If you remove the outer bearing you should be able to see where the bearing has started to breakup on the surface.
