Just about to have my wheels refurbished on my `88 300sl,does anyone know the position on the correct wheel nuts,ie: still use the original long ones or replace with the new shorter version? I understand why the change was recommended but feel that as long as the originals are annually maintained by removal and greasing they should be ok.Any thoughts? Also, where can I get replacement long ones?
Thanks

107 wheel nuts

Hi,
The correct wheel bolts are 95mm in length, with a should halfway down the bolt. It seems that MB dont recommend using them, i picked up a set from the American ebay, for about $50.00, but there was some available on the German Ebay recently. These do finish of the flat faced alloys very nicely, the short dumpy bolts do nothing for the look, if you do get some be sure to use some copper grease on them and dont use anything other than a wheel brace to do em up then torque em correctly.

Good Luck

Thanks for that, puts my mind at rest that Im doing right thing.Know what you mean about the short nuts not doing anything for the look of the flat face wheel. Cheers
