Can anybody advise what the offset is for a 2001 / 210 E class with 17" factory alloys.
Is it an ET 37 offset?
All assistance would be greatly appreciated:confused:

Thanks Malcolm. You are a whizz.
And by the way thank you for calling me sir.At last someone has recognized the true essence of my pedigree.
Ive been called a lot of things but "sir "
wasn't one of them.

Just yesterday one of our dear Australian brother citizens (a geriatric gentleman driving a red SS Holden V8 ute) called me some names because I tried to get past him in the 202 and he refused to relinquish the use of two lanes when one would have amply sufficed.
I don't recall this well mannered geriatric gentleman using the term "sir"
When I politely responded by pointing out that he should be more courteous and allow others to pass in at least one of the two lanes being occupied by his bucket of freshly painted bolts. He retorted by saying that I was some kind of a sissy driving the 202.

I believe that this has something to do with the notion that "Real Aussies drive utes".

He even had the gall to yell out that the 202 is the type of car where one has to squat in to have a leak, rather than stand up like as in his "carriage".

Quite frankly I couldn't see the relevance of all this toilet talk from a simple gesture of tooting one's horn to get past.

I guess that it has something to do with an onrush of testostrone at age sixty when one hops into one of these red Aussie V8 utes..Maybe some of our more senior members here could try this remedy.

Strangely enough I was recently with a friend in a 210 E 430 and one of these v8 utes pulled up next to my friend at a set of lights. I guess that the other driver might have been the son of the gentleman referred to above, as he was a lot younger. For want of a better name we shall hereinafter refer to this younger driver as Hoon 2.

Anyway Hoon 2 was anxious to go revving his burbling motor as if petrol was equivalent to water. He was raring to go " Layaa the rubber " and do the "smokie".

When the lights turned green the ute shot out and was ahead for about the first metre (about 3 feet). Hoon 2 was immensely pleased to show the merc how it is done by these real Aussie utes.

That was well and good for another couple of meters and then my mate let the Merc rip. I have to say that within 25 meters I was looking at the hoon, in the rear view mirror several car lengths back with his jaw about to hit the bitumen and a look of total disbelief across his face.

Now that is incredible. His car was very late model and packing a 5.7 litre Holden v8 as opposed to a 4.3 litre merc v8. The merc was probably heavier out of the two.

Now how could that be ???????

Must have had faulty spark plugs or bad fuel in the Holden. Can't be right .

Yeah sure thats it the Hoon copped some bad petrol at his last fuel stop.......
How else can you explain the sissy Merc blowing the doors off the Holden muscle car with such little effort.

Ah, that'd be telling!
OEM wheels are Et37 or 41 depending on style (based on 7.5x17)

Aftermarket fits can be anything from ET30 - ET42 depening on width etc.

Thanks dave .Ishould have worked that one out. I guess it was the experience with hoon 1 that threw me out. At least that was my excuse. I was hoping I would get some response from someone about the hoons but .....why bother ...... In the case of hoon 1 it is about as low as it gets.

However the no comments on the hoon 2 experience does come as a bit of a surprise. I was expecting a flood of applause here. I suppose the post is about wheel offset and hides its meatier aspect.

Ok .You've got me. I fess up.

However the rest of the story is 100% accurate.

I still can't work out the power delivery differential between the two vehicles (as in Hoon 2) and further its hard to consume more than 11.1 litres per 100km no matter how much one pushes the pedal and down to mid 9s on a 60km trip in the country. i think it will even go lower than that on along interstate trip.Iwould anticipate mid 7's.
