Hi, my 1989 190e (2.6 auto) currently has a set of CLK 16 inch alloys fitted. They look great, but rub on the wheel arches (on the outside) over bumps. Can anyone tell me which size (width and offset) wheels would fit without rubbing? I'd like to stick with the 16 inch diameter as the tyres are almost new.

Also the door cards are peeling on the top where they meet the windows. Can these be reconditioned anywhere, or will they have to be replaced?
Thanks
Neil

Hi Neil.
As I am making my first post here, I feel a little nervous at offering my limited experience !
I have just aquired my first MB, 1989 190e (2.0 auto) lpg conversion, and one of the few problems I face has been a peeling, or rather delaminating, door liner, peeling at the top, all the way along the window rubber seal.
What I did was to make a wooden former - a piece of 1"x1", with a slight curve planed along one face.
I tucked this along the inside top edge(took the liner off first, and did it in the workshop aka shed), got as much pva glue as I could into each of the gaps between the layers, and cramped it all to the wooden former.
I used thin ply load spreaders, covered in selotape, between the faces of the cramps and the "leatherette"(?) surface of the liner. Even so, there was quite a dent along the edge where the ply was, but after 24 hours that had disappeared.
Hope that's a help, but you do need about four hands :)

John
