would 225 7.5J wheels from a 2001 S class fit my w210 e320 CDI

would using tyres 225 60 r16 create problems, the standard tyres are 225 55 r16. I realise that the speedometer will under-read by 8% however, I think my speedo over-reads by 5% now

i don't think your "std" tyres are the correct size.

my 210 has 215 /55s

what are the respective offsets of your current and intended wheels?

ooh and i think the s class uses thicker diameter bolts

I don't believe the offset of W220 alloys would be suitable for our 210's. Chris Murray will be able to confirm.

just had a look

the spare on my w220 2002 s has a 51 offset and on the 210 it's 41 that means that the inside edge of the rim is going to be 10mm further in with the220 wheels fitted

i'm very sure this will foul on the front steering especially as you have to lose a further 5mm of clearance for the wider than std tyre
just put your hand over the top of your front wheel and try feel the gap between wheel and steering arm...tight innit?

other people have said here that wide tyres can give tramlining on the 210

and don't overlook the bolt diameter issue

I guess thats why 17" W220 rims on eBay never achieve high prices. All other 17" genuine Merc alloys from C/E/CLK/SLK seem to achieve much higher prices as they seem to fit a wider variety of models.

I read all of the mails on the subject and came to the conclusion that they wouldn't fit.

16x7.5ET46 S Class wheels fit the 210 but require 215/55R16. Good idea to get replacement bolts with R14 seat too..

Looks very smart - lots of cheap S class wheels on ebay. do the tyres on the S class 225 60 r16 not fit? as most wheels on ebay come with tyres
