just thought i would let you all know a little bit of consumer info.through bitter experience.when you buy a car be it new or used the consumer law says that it must be fit for purpose for at least 12 mnths.that means no probs.fair enough if your brake pads are worn out after 10 mnts then that is fair enough.i purchased a 200 w reg ml from an independant dealer, what a mistake.it played up from day 1 but came with 12mnts mot and a full pdi inspection.the list of faults are blowing injectors, pads and discs worn, tyres illegal, rear springs broken, gear box leak, air con leaking and it goes on.but it looked nice and shiney.i contacted consumer direct and found out the above.also because i had partly financed it the credit company are part of the deal.in the end after weeks of threats and phone calls the credit company paid the 5 grand bill and then chased the garage for it.dont be fobbed off, call write fax and go to the consumer direct website, loads of helpfull stuff.dont forget that car should be fit for purpose for 12 mnths regardless of new or used.
