HI,

Just a quick question, at what age/mileage do you need to change the timing chain ?

Is is every 50k or 5 years, or is it at 100k ?

Or do you just need to change the tensioner at a certain mileage ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

There is no specified mileage as this is a duplex chain. More than 5 degrees retard on the cam at engine TDC indicates too much stretch.

how do you go about measuring this 5 degrees retard to look for stretch?
mine is a 190e with 114k miles original duplex chain.

Compare the cam timing to the crank timing.

If the crank has to be 5 degrees ATDC when the cam is at the TDC mark then the chain is stretched.
