When to change filters

On the om651 engine how often do you guys change the air and fuel filters?
According to mercedes it every 4 years or 60k.
Should you stick to years if mileage is low I average 8k with plenty of long runs

You can check the air filter on a time basis. Eventually the paper will break down and be sucked into the engine, but I think that will take some considerable time. The other issue may be adhesives breaking down a d allowing unfiltered air in.

Its usually whichever comes first.
I change every 2 years. Its surprising how much they collect.

It didn't work anyways. Apparently carbon build up even though regularly serviced according to MB schedule

A lot depends on the air quality you have. In poor air quality with a lot of smog etc., a filter chokes up fairly quickly. In clean air, they last a long time. I do mine every 80K in Oz unless I drive a lot in dusty outback conditions.

I change the oil and filter on mine every 6 thousand and on the next 6 thousand service I do all the filters..... It's not a cheap way to do it but it keeps my car running 100% and the car still feels like a new one even though it's done 67 thousand miles.

It's very cheap , sub £20 per 5L oil , sub £4.50 oil filter.
