I own an E220 Cab. If you have any specific questions, please ask!

I can tell you that the 320's are rare, and to find a good one, you will be paying top buck. If you find one for less than 15Kish, then it will probably wont be perfect. If you are happy with one thats had minor paintwork etc then you will find one cheaper....

They are absolutely great cars though!

Cheers

Hi ive got one :)

They are very rare. I have only seen one other one. an old boy
in Coventry has a white one with body kit on . He only brings it out
for a service. If you find one it will be mint and it will cost.
No mine is not for sale. they are beter built than the new ones
and it will only go up in price. Mine has :D :D They are not bad on
MPG 25 per gal approx. i will post more info if you need.

PS if you have seen one it will be a good buy if its straight.
Mine is a 93 not a facelift hence it is 320ce convertible.

E320 Cabrio information

Hi ya..

thanks for the pointers..

I live in London and do often see many E series cabriolets !!!, I have seen a few for sale on the Autotrader, but none to my likeing yet.

I am after a Azurite Blue sportline model, preferably in the E320 model (as the performance is slighter better from what I led to believe). Are there any obvious stuff/pointers to look out for when viewing the E series Cabrio's. I don't really like the CLK cabrio's and find the E series Cabrio's more stylish and exclusive due to the number manufactured.

What's the common stuff to look out for ? Do they leek when it rains, whats the maintenaince like etc... etc

From 1996, the sportlines received a 5 speed Auto and Traction control, is it worth getting a later model, are they more reliable ?or stick with a 1995 edition ?, Are replacement hoods easy to get hold of ?

Thanks in advance, :?:

Hi

The 320 performance is very good. mine is the 5sp no trraction it
will spin in wet traction would be good.
Hood they do not leek. maintenance is the same as all E class
all parts are easy to get hold of. You need service history.
The sportline is a handling pack by AMG
The tickover can be a bit rough. Try a serch on this site you will
find more info on the 320.

Mine is red 5sp heated sports seats and the sportline pack. it is
for a big car rapid. Head gaskit at approx 100k. it will last me
a lifetime it is only used for the school run. I drive a sprinter all day.
Hope This Helps.

There was an article in the October 2002 issue of Mercedes Enthusiast magazine. It was very informative and might give you a few pointers.

I notice that silver arrows also had two for sale at the time...one of which had 20k on the clock but the asking price was a staggering 25k  .

Apparently there were only 85 RHD E320 Cabriolet's made so I think you will probably have to pay top dollar to find a good one.

If you'd like, I can scan the article and mail it to you. If there are any other CE owners out there that want a copy, PM me with your email address and I'll CC it to you also - It does make good reading :)

I was driving around london yesterday in my 220. Feels great when the suns out!
But i saw a 320 cab. It really put this rare car to shame. It was silver Mreg. Was really badly maintained, wheels were completely for the scrap yard and the rest of the car was in bad shape too.

Made me think: If only 85 were made, a few of those will be in scrap yards by now, a few will not be in the country anymore, and the few that are left will probably not be for sale, and if they are, will probably go to a trader who will ask real top dollar.

Only option is to import a LHD i guess.

But have you driven the 220? Its really not as sluggish as youd think. 16 Valves make the difference.

Mine is for sale, dont worry this isnt a plug to sell, but if you ever want to test drive, then i am in london aswell. There are a lot more 220's out there esp in Blue....

Thanks for the tips and information guys, I will try to get the latest Mercedes Enthusiast magazine, anyone know what date it will be available ?

Jay, the 220's are nice cars, I've seen a quite few 220's for sale with various traders and go fo. But I was really after a 320 in Blue, I know will probably have to wait a while till one becomes available !!!

How comes your selling your motor ?

Will keep you guys posted if anything turns up.

Cheers

I think the magazine was out on friday, im gonna go on search for one on my way home...

Im just considering my future needs. I will eventually have to switch back to something more accomodating for more than 2 Adults, although the rear seating is relatively spacious...
Also, the boot is really non existent, i can hardly fit a weekend bag in there without having to shift everything else to the back seat....

I wish i could keep it, but i think it will have to go sometime this yr.....

Im jus holdin on as long as i can :)

Hi Jay
Sorry What i ment was. You was after an e class owners manual &
you get a supplement for the convertible part. It dont tell you much
just how to put the hood up and down. I have the supplement & could copy if you need. The other part covers all e class cars

Jaymaneck - those figures you got, are they for the Cabrio's or the hard tops? Only, I have it in B/W from the same magazine that 85 was the total number of RHD E320 cabriolet's.....somethings not right somewhere???
