Okay, I really know alot of you are gonna hate me for what i'm gonna ask, but if anyone knows a parts place, or a specialty shop where i could get these motor and tranny mounts that would be awesome. Alright i want to take a ford 5.0L engine and a T-5 5-speed out of a mustang and drop it in a 1976 SLC. Does anyone know where i can get these mounts made???????

I really dont know much about this car. I recently aquired it and i'm currently deployed so i haven't even gotten my head under the hood or underneath the car, so i don't know whats going on. I also don't know much about MB. Also what kind of suspension setup does this car have in the rear, is it basic leaf spring? Would it be possible to stick a ford 8.8" TracLoc rear axle? The width doesn't matter cuz i could always adjust with wheel sizing, backspace, and spacers. If anyone could enlighten me and tell me a little bit about problems i would face/solutions/whatever. Thank you.

When I slipped a Mustang engine and box into a Ford Transit mini bus I went to a racing conversion firm, and they made me a new cross member with the mounts on, there plenty around. You do have the mustang cross member with the existing mounts.

It could be easier to cut this out and weld into the MB

Hi & Welcome,

I'm guessing you are in the US (or at least when your not deployed) if so I'm sure there are quite a few firms that can make up the necessary for you. One thing the MB suspension is a few millennia more advanced than the solid beam axel and leaf springs from Ford.

So.....its not a solid axle rear?
You can check it out here just search using the first 6 No.s from your vin - I'm guessing it starts with a 107.

BTW are you deployed anywhere nice?

The site you gave me won't come up,
It's a Russian one so perhaps you have a few restrictions at your end...
It works from here.

Seems reasonable, I'll e-mail for a family member to look into it. Thank you. And also thanks for your support.

Solid rear axles (live axles over here) disappeared from cars about 20 years ago.

Although the new Mustang has re-introduced them to the UK :)

Think of all the money that could be saved on suspension components, mind you back in the old days it was all shackle pins and bushes, and they did not last long.
