Hi all - I'm a first time owner of a MB, and have recently bought a used CLS from a local dealership. Only one key(less) fob was supplied (see picture); not unexpected as it was part of their T&C's. Where could a get a duplicate key fob from? Any pitfalls I might want to avoid? Thanks.

ReplacementMercedesKeys or MB.

You cannot recode a second hand key so don't be tempted by the cheap ones on eBay.

I think the RMK place is slightly less expensive than Mercedes.

The main dealer will relieve you over around £250 for a new key and it takes about a week to arrive from Germany. You'll need your V5 and some ID to order it.

There are places that will make a working key a bit cheaper like RMK in Birmingham, but they need the car at their workplace to do it. You'd be saving about £70 on the price at the main dealers
Google may turn up somewhere more local, but the car i will have to be present to obtain a key. Again, ID and proof of ownership will be required.

Hi All - just bought my first MB from a local dealership, and whilst only one key was supplied (not unexpected as part of their T&C's, and see pic below), I am certain the test drive I took a few days ago used a very different silver all metal style key(less) fob. This leads me to think a second key(less) fob does exist although I have not be able to find a Google image of the key fob used during the test drive. Any ideas what might be going on here (apart from me imagining things)? Thanks!

If you do use a dealer to order a new key, ask them to delete any other keys apart from the one you have from the system.
It will prevent any theft using the key you think may be in existance.

I would however first ask the selling dealer to double check there isn't another key in their possession for your car. They may have just mislaid or forgotten to give it to you.

I have never bought a car without 2 keys, the 5 Mercedes I have bought have all had 2 keys.
I would be interested in their T&C's, seems very strange.

Can highly recommend RMK in Birmingham , they have just supplied me with two keys one brand new the other a new blade and case with the internals from my broken original , done in under an hour , as MB no longer supply the key fob remote for the w163 it is a god send and half the price MB would have charged had they still supplied them plus MB wanted another £120 to program them each to the car

I wouldn't accept a car with only one key either, I can't ever remember having a car with only one key. Maybe in the early days when you could go and get one cut but not with to-days electronic keys
