I've always fitted my own tow bars, the last one being a BMW 530d. I bought the OE loom which, connected to the cars lighting control module.

This was clever because it turned off parking sensors (rears only) and fog light whilst towing, it also monitored the bulbs on the caravan via the cars bulb failure warning system.

Question is, 1. The owner of the car I'm looking at (320CDi estates) told me all cars are tow bar ready, you just buy the detachable hitch/swan neck.

2. My caravan has the 13 pin euro plug, what is OE or what would I get from the dealer? and how does it interface with the cars system?
