where do I start looking

1983 280sl.
The wiper intermitant function is not working. do i look at the switch or shall I look at a relay or is the problem likely to be in the motor?

My cruise control has shut down First it would work some days and not others. Then it would not hold but each function would operate when the stalk was depressed, now nothing works. Where are the parts hiden in the car. I fitted a aftermarket cruise to my sprinter and that is ok
. so I know what should be fitted but where do I start looking?

When my intermittent wipers weren't working my wipers would not "park" themselves either (had to switch them off at parked position). A new relay cured me. It was a Sprinter 2002 year.

dont know for sure on sprinters but on my s500 with same faults it was the multi relay (bloomin expensive)!!! it seemed to control any timed function.

probably on the shelf, im like steptoe and rarely throw anything away.
it was a s500 1995 not sl.

i know the replacement was a different part number from mercs which they said was an upgrade.

just hoping its not that on my sl500 which decided it didnt want to turn the starter today!

who said mercs were reliable? i used to :-(
