C220 CDI (2001) Last week started getting a whine from steering pump, didn't use car for several days, now pump makes a screaming noise, may be running dry, but can't find the reservoir to checK steering fluid level. Where do they hide it?

if it was running dry you'd know all about it, as turning the front wheels (when stationary or driving very slowly) would be very difficult with little or no power steering fluid in the system,

as for the location of the steering fluid, on my car its the grey cylinder to the LEFT of the windscreen washer fluid container (my car is LHD),

on my mums W124 it was in pretty much the same location and was identical in looks, a small black rubber nut on top which you can unscrew, and inside should be your steering fluid. If it's empty or near empty then fill it :)

cheers
