My indicators have suddenly stopped working so before fiddling with anything too tricky i may as wel replace the ticker switch.

Anyone know where i can find it on a 1993 300sl please?

Do you mean the relay? First thing to do is check the fuses - is anything else not working or just the indicators?

re. indicators

I have a wiring diagram for the car and all fuses are ok.

I notice that the hazards arn't working also so this makes me think its the flasher relay or ticker. I am not sure if the merc has a relay for this or a small silve ticker unit.

Anyway i have the relay box off in front of me and it looks like STATS diagram but without the C, D and E relays.

Another note. Could the switch in the stalk itself be dodgy? If so that wouldn't affect the hazards also would it?

Any thoughts? feel free to reply right away because i'm out with the car with the laptop on wireless right now :)

Thanks Tim

I thought the hazards were controlled by the EDW module? Fuse 5 in the boot is the last link for the indicators.

the what module? edw?

I would assume that the relay that ticks the indicators is the same for the hazard right?

It will be the flasher unit that has failed or should be

update

here is an update.

They suddenly started working agian,,,, however i notice than sometimes when i turn the on all the lights on the consol flash and needles suddenly drop and settle back again. This doesn;t happed every time.

Can you think what ecu or unit would cause the indicators to cause everything else to flash or fail for a split second?

Thanks Malcom,

On Stats relay diagram from before do you know which one that is? Is it actually located in the relay box? From your diagram it's tricky to see which 119 really is.

My fuse box is just like the one in Stats diagram minus the C D and E relays.

I also notice that 119 controls the wipers which may account for the intermittent problem with those also.

Thanks

Tim

Buy a new one? They're not cheap unfortunately.

Malcolm may be able to repair it if you send it to him though generally if they're gone they're gone.

wow you guys repairs as well. Not just offer advice?

How much do you charge for such a fix?

Up to now I was a classic car owner and they're so much easier. Something goes wrong and u can find it and fix it within 30 mins unsually.

You have to ease all of the clips in the holes where the pins are, and the case slides off

Forget the below - i somehow managed it with the help of some fine scissors

Something gives me the idea that it wasn't meant to come out once it goes in. The little clips need to be all open simultaneously. Either a special tool is needed or isn't coming out.... any handy tips?
