Wheres the pipe gone ?

The large vac pipe from the PSE has this filter on but it appears to missing the other end , had my hand in but cant feel / find it in there

maybe it is as is, to draw in air and filter it.

I think its been fitted with an aftermarket filter . The originals have a cage affair at one end and the pipe fitting at the other.
The small fuel filter you have in there now does exactly the same job and costs about a quarter of the price.

The small fuel filter you have in there now does exactly the same job and costs about a quarter of the price.
Ok that goes some way to explain why its blown off , looks like i need to pull the back rest out to have a further look see

Above is what they look like from factory , and get replaced with a small fuel filter because its easier/ cheaper to get hold of… so one end is just an open pipe… there is nothing for it to connect to.
My 97 w210 e300td had one on the vac lines for egr/ turbo vacuum transducers .. it lived near the under bonnet fuse box of I remember correctly.

But where has the other end off the filter gone , not really anywhere it can go ??

As Doug1234 says, its a breather, there never was a pipe on the other end.

The pump can create both positive and negative pressure and the filter is there to stop dust being drawn into the system when in negative pressure mode.
