Hi all, I have a 2011 E220 avantgarde estate blueefficiency, with HID EXNON lights, all the lights work (as far as I can tell) except the passenger side head light, I took the working drivers side out and put it in the passenger side and it didn't work, I put the passenger side in the drivers side and it worked, so both bulbs are working, which leads me to believe it is the ballast unit, I want to order a new one but I don't want to take the old one off until I have the new one, only problem is without taking the old one off I don't know which one to order, can anyone tell me which one to order please?

Cheers Tony.

I presume you've checked fuses first?

I assumed that the fuse was OK as both head lights work off the same fuse (I believe) so if drivers side works then passenger side should work? Any idea which fuse it it?

If you have a code reader or know an indy that does maybe get the codes read.
If you are sure its the Ballast look on the numerous online IPL based on vin to get the pn. Alternative ask a MB dealer or MB grangemouth.

Note you are in Worksop. Mercserve Nottingham are my go to to avoid MB dealers for certain things.

Even dogs can be sorted.

When I had my old E320 estate I always used MB Service Centre in Mansfield, I had a problem with an air mass flow thingy, they sorted it out for me really quickly as I was about to go on holiday, couldn't praise them enough.

I had the same problem in my 2012 E350cdi a month ago. It is worth checking the fuse first as they are individual for each side. It is located in the engine compartment on the drivers side. 10A from memory. It is most likely to be the ballast. I watched a few YouTube videos before tackling it. It is necessary to remove front wheel, part of wheel arch liner and front bumper to gain access to remove the headlight unit. It was all straightforward but took 3-4 hours in total. I bought a genuine ballast on EBay but there are probably equally good ones for less money.

Thank you all, fuses are all ok, 99% sure it's the ballast now, just waiting for my icarsoft to get here then I will order one if it is the bit that's broken.
