Hi all.
I'm new to mercedes and have fallen for the looks of the cls class but unsure what to buy in the over priced market we are buying our cars in these days.
The 2ltr looks quick enough and looks like it returns good mpg.
Am I better off going for the 3ltr or will I just be driving steady in it to save fuel.
I've lots of questions really but was hoping to start there
Please help if you can

Hello!

If you're doing silly miles, then perhaps the smaller capacity makes sense.

But in all honesty, in a CLS, go 3.0 every time! Silky smooth, performance when you want it and they're really not bad on fuel on a run.

You'll never regret buying the larger engine. Fuel prices are coming down fast, I saw £1.57 for unleaded on the A303 yesterday.

I will be doing around 12k now maybe more but not much. Always thought 6 cylinder would be better than 4

AMG trim level is nothing special, big wheels and some trim. Makes them uncomfortable mainly.

An AMG is a different thing entirely - with a hand built engine and plenty of go

Depends how fast you want to go, the 350d is 0-60 in 5 secs and 155mph limited (which your never gonna use) plus it's got decent MPG, as for trim level, as I've said, depends what you want, Premium isn't enough, personally for me it's gotta be Premium Plus. :)

From the options has to be the 3.0ltr and sounds like we’re talking diesels. No idea why anyone would buy the 2ltr units as you’ll simply be pressing on more to make it move so any fuel savings are really negligible imo.

3.0ltr Merc diesel is tried and tested and well suited to a car that weight.

The AMG kitted cars are always more desirable from my experience but, for the wrong reasons. A full fat AMG on the hand is whole different story.

OK so I'm buying the 3ltr premium plus AMG maybe I'm gonna need to look into what your saying about an AMG engine.
I could spend to 20k but got the hump about prices. I've seen 2013 60k on the clock for around £12k and it's 2015 with 32k on clock for close to £20k.
Is there much between the years

Mercedes w218 CLS63 AMG now gone, RR Velar
In the last 3 years I owned an CLS 350 cdi, 2013 and was one of the best cars ever, bought at @36k miles and sold at 78k absolutely without any problems, just wear and tear, oil changed every 5-6k , gear box done, remapped, holidays all over the Europe etc. I bought couple of weeks ago an cls63 amg and…I really regret not buying it before .

I've not even driven one yet. I'm waiting for the right car to come along. Maybe I should just get in as many as I can
