Which Command unit do I have? Can it be updated?

Hi my sat nav only accepts half of the post code. eg. HP21, nothing after that so it will only take you to an area. I have been told that an update will fix this. Is this correct? Where do I find the sat nav CD? 2011 Eclass E200 Estate.
What update do I need? Which sat nave do I have? see photo?

That is an NTG4 version. The map is stored on a hard disc and can be updated by contacting Comand Online in Lightwater. Have your full Vin# to hand as they can see exactly what is fitted and confirm its NTG4.

I have the same sat nav as AMG says its stored on the hard drive, after downloading from a DVD.
Its about £120 updated yearly, which I am not prepared to pay. It would have cost me about £1300 having owned the E class 13 years.
I use Waze off my iPhone, its free & light years ahead of the MB one. Much faster search & recalculation, Camera Warning, & a much faster live traffic updates.

That may not be NTG4 - which has a pop-up screen in my 2008 S204. Looks more like NTG4.5 as fitted to the 2011MY facelift W/S204. Hopwever, as yours is an E class I may be out of order here! I do know that NTG4 updates have 2 varieties - NTG4-204 and NTG4-211. When you contact comand.co.uk have your VIN handy so they can look up the build sheet for your car (which you can also do via a free online VIN checker) to see exactly what it left the factory with.

The Clear button on an NTG4 is marked only with a C. On an NTG4.5 the word Clear is in full.
That's the way I can tell the difference.
NTG4.5 wasn't introduced in the E class until 2012 although it was in other models earlier.

Your car is fitted with audio 50 which does not support full postcode
navigation im afraid. There is no update that will fix this for you sadly
other than to swap out the audio 50 for comand. This does accept full
postcodes. This costs about £1600 inc vat.

Sounds like the same unit in my S211 which is proving to be a nuisance to swap out to the Chinese Android unit I had in the old S211.

Ah, I understood wrongly that you had Comand fitted.
