I have a 2006 Atego 2. It has a 6 speed auto gearbox and I wanted to change the fluid but not sure if it has gear oil, atf or hydraulic fluid...anyone know?

Just incase anyone wanted the answer to this question....you would use 75w 90. I used a German brand called Liqui Moly. I prefer their oils.

All depends on which gearbox is fitted

There were five different gearboxes available for the Atego. Firstly, the G56, G60 and G85 all-synchromesh manual gearboxes with six forward gears and one reverse gear. They were available with engine-mounted linkage gearshift (G56 and G60), hydraulic gearshift (G85) or Telligent automated gearshift. The G131-9 was a direct-drive gearbox with eight synchronised forward gears, one constant-mesh crawler gear and one reverse gear. It consisted of a 4-speed basic gearbox with pneumatic rear-mounted range unit. Gears were shifted hydropneumatically. Last but not least was the Allison 3000P electronically controlled automatic gearbox. It featured five forward gears and one reverse gear.

Allison Transmission recommends using Allison-approved TES668 or TES295 fluid.

MB specification is 236.9

75w90 would be for a manual transmission.

How would you know if you had the Allison transmission? Is the only way to look for the plate on the box?

Mine says Daimler so hopefully the 75w90 is correct for me

Seems like mine is a G56. So would 75w90 have been the correct gear oil to use?
