I was toying with the idea of buying a merc, so i started looking at the E and C class, but i couldnt believe the amount of rust i found. Ive heard stories of it all going wrong around 1996, cheap metal used etc. Also weak auto box's.
I decided i would probably prefer a C class (the w202). What year would you recommend? Are pre 1996 a better build? I would like to start with a cheap one around £2000 but may spend more if a later one is definately the one to go for, also what engine is good and what should i look for when buying this model?
