Hey guys.. quick one..

My 911 has this white residue on the boot lartch and door hinges etc..

I don't have a pic but it looks like some kind of oil was sprayed to keep them working alright.

Is this correct and what would it be ?

Spray lithium grease ? Dry PTFE?

Thank you.

White Grease Conor. All the servicing outfits spray it on. Makes it look like they have done something to extract your hard earned ;)
I have a tin or 2 :)

OK thanks.. so it's lithium grease...or is white lithium grease slightly different..?

Genuine question.. I get you might have been joking.. but are you saying it doesn't really do anything?

I've got a spray can of it as well for door hinge type low temperature lube jobs.

It does work and you can spot it easily when opening a door unlike say, an oil change. I suppose if you spot fresh white grease on your hinges after a vehicle service then it gives you confidence that everything else has been done too......or is that the big bluff........

Is this a new addition?
E350, SL500 Renault, Range Rover and now 911?
Shoot.. I generally keep this one under the radar oft referring to is as just "my car"

Jeez you've been keeping up with me lol..

Yea.. so I just had to do it.. its a 996 Turbo with a manual box and X50 power pack. GT Silver on Blue Metropole leather with Aero wing. It had to be done. I kept telling myself that I'd easily get out of it if I ever needed too..

They are different Greases.
The white grease is best on the stricker plates and latches as these are more open than door hinges. As @davidsl500 says, gives you that bit of confidence after the service :)
