I'm tempted to look at that for my wife. Looks a lovely car.
If that's the same V6 petrol engine as in my SLK280 2008, it's a peach of an engine, lazy when you want it to be but boy when the right foot goes down, it flies! Had the first real go last Sunday on a lovely local drivers road - 200 yard straights then chicane - loved it!!

Whatever you buy be aware of the clean air zones. It's virtually impossible to travel through France without entering one. Fortunately they use emissions measured to determine when they are active but you could be caught out if not careful.
Green-zones.eu have an app to show zones and status.

Nice , only issue is some panels don’t match in shade?
You wouldn't know until you seen it, at 16 it won't be perfect. Headlights a bit cloudy (I'd need to change them anyway) probably needs brakes, gearbox oil change and a good look at the rear sub-frame etc.
But at the price you could do a lot of work yourself for £1K and it still would make a great tourer, if the hood works of course!

Are used car prices much higher in France?

One other thing to bear in mind is that in 33+ degrees at motorway speeds convertibles can get quite tiring with the heat and the noise.
We did most of our motorway miles top up as a result. My stepson found exactly the same thing on his first trip over in a convertible.
If you have the time use the back roads and take a leisurely trip.through rural France. Roof down at low speeds on French country roads is one of loveliest experiences around.

Hard to get a petrol Merc here and certainly not at that mileage and price. Generally around here anything outside warranty never see a regular service and only see a garage when something breaks.
Even allowing for the return trip to the UK, can always pass that off as a holiday and not a car buying trip, and cost of re-registering (but no annual road tax) I think it still is worthwhile.

It’s why we have air con :D:p:cool:

Although the only thing not working in the R230 SL500 I drove over there was the AC - unsurprisingly the owner of the car is an AC specialist in his day job...
