Grateful for any suggestion on what security system to protect my 190D. 1993 car currently has no alarm/immobilizer at all. I'm put off going for an alarm as I would worry about it being a pain in the ar**, so thought an immobilizer would probably be the best route. There's a company I've discovered on the 'net called Gap Security (www.car-security-online.co.uk) who sell a load of Thatcham approved products, including the below blurb, £155, all in. Any suggestions/recommendations on this issue generally? Much thanks. Adrian

"Thatcham category 2 engine immobiliser Utilising the same technology as the prior system, this transponder also incorporates a master key, which can reprogramme new keys in case of losing one. Even if you lose your entire set of keys, no need to get a new ignition barrel and key, just reprogramme a new key and the old key will never work again. Price to supply and install anywhere in the United Kingdom with a lifetime warranty on both parts and labour and a VSIB certificate £155 including VAT. RRP normally £205."

Don’t think this system will be any good for a 190D as the fuel shut off is vacuum operated and not electrical, the only thing I think it would be good for is the starter and if its an auto disabling the inhibitor switch

Thanks Ian. The car's a manual so it could be linked to the starter, then. Cheers
