No. I insured car with Churchill through confused.com.
when I was reading paperwork I noticed it says a tracker must be fitted for theft option to be valid.
On another group I’m in some have said that the Mercedes Me tracker should cover it.

I’d check with the insurance as it’s their requirements you need to meet.

The only people who can give you the answer to what type of tracker you need are the actual insurance company.

I have a Mercedes ME tracker on mine, though this was not deemed acceptable for insurance purposes and I ended up with a "Trafficmaster Generic Trackstar" system fitted by Teletrac Navman. This meets the insurer's Cat 6 requirements and was fitted by a local company.

I would not however recommend it, as it has been a nightmare since I've had it installed, giving false positives practically every time the car goes anywhere. It's only in the last few months that it seems to be behaving a bit more, in that I'm not getting a phone call every time I use the car. They fitted new software to it to try to cure the amount of false alarms which were always the same: "key not detected in the vehicle", though it was still the same, with an abundance of phone calls and SMS messages. I eventually had to threaten them with it's complete removal unless they got it sorted out.

I don't know if they've turned the sensitivity setting down a bit, or even if there is one of these, but it has been a lot less obtrusive of late. Fingers crossed it carries on this way but I have my doubts, hence my refusal to recommend.

I’ve a Datatool thing on the bike, only had 1 call when I disconnected the battery to connect my ctek charger. Don’t need it for insurance so haven’t checked on it’s compatibility. It does a great job of tracking my rides and the ahem speed…

Have to say I am amazed at Churchill insisting on a tracker being fitted to your car.
You are a mature driver with a 3 year old car worth in the region of £30k...so is the requirement for a tracker based on where you live with a high number of thefts being recorded against this type of vehicle?
I have had quotes in the past where trackers are required but these have been from companies I have never heard of and were ridiculously expensive in any case.
As I understand it you have already insured the vehicle but they will not cover you for theft unless an approved tracker is fitted?
I am curious to hear what your compulsory excess for theft is, because I imagine it will be high.
Personally I would have went with another company that did not insist on a tracker...even if the premium was a little more expensive.
If my car was ever to be stolen I would much rather not get it back.

Smart + others :)
I have a tracker fitted to one of my other cars, I went for one with a lifetime subscription as yearly worked out expensive. I’m not selling this car in the foreseeable future.

Cancel the insurance and go with someone else?

If you have only just taken it out, you are probably within the free cancellation period?

You were entitled to 7 days free insurance then from the dealer?

Use that and shop around, unless you want a tracker of course.

The only time I had a tracker fitted it introduced rattles and squeaks to the car! :(

In that case you need to update your profile. ;)
Many people neglect to do this when they buy a new car so others naturally think they still have what is listed.
I would have mentioned this in my opening post because I would be proud of owning a car of this class.

At potentially almost 3 times the worth of your previous car it is very much an expensive car...but I still wouldnt be happy about any insurance company holding me to ransom by effectively forcing me to fit a tracker.
You admitted that you were not aware of this, so If if was you I would find another insurance company.

I only collected it this morning
Yes I will update it.
my first post was a bit rushed as they caught me out by stating it needs a tracker. I am looking at other insurance as well.
cheers for all the comments though.
