Which W124 ???

Hi all, I have a dilemma and your advice would be helpful,
I have been thinking about buying a W124 either saloon or coupe last as poss model and cant decide which would be best.
E220 saloon or coupe?
E280 saloon?
E300 Diesel though I dont know much at all about them(performance + economy)
E300 coupe.
Good and bad of these would be appreciated,
Also values and I would prefer something without too higher miles.

Or if you need slightly more space....an E280....great engines and not so expensive to fuel and insure as an E320.

300 CE-24 is very fast and very comfortable.
Took mine on a 3000 mile round trip across France last summer - chewed up the miles gracefully (but have to fill up more often than my Pug 306 TD)!
