Hi all i have had a new NearSide trackrod end fitted, and now when i turn steering, i get a annoying whining noise. (this only happens when its stationary. not whilst moving along at all...

Any idea what that could be?

It doesnt do it all the time, and mostly when i turn the wheel full left lock as it gets closer to full lock it makes this grumbling whine noise, garage said to leave it a day or two and see if it wears in...

if it's at a stand

it's probably steering pump oriented. Maybe something has been knocked out of whack, and your pump is having a moan at the extra work involved.

Any pulls to one side , loss of self-centring or other variations noticed?

Sorry Coolpot

I thought your grumble happened when the car was stationary and you weren't turning the wheel. I would advise against steering when stationary anyway as the side effects are worn tyres and strained steering components.

Power steering systems I've had usually make a noise when at full lock. It's the system saying "I can't take anymore".
