Hello all, great forum.

I have a 94 e300d and one of the warning lamps is an amber light bulb with ! in it. One day it came on when I was driving along and it turned out one of the sidelight bulbs had blown. So I assume this warning light tells me when there is a bulb out?

Anyway, now it has come on but all of the bulbs seem o.k....

Sidelights, headlights, rear lights and both no. plate lights.

It comes on when I turn on the sidelights and stays on when I put the headlights on.

Any ideas? It shouldn't bother me but it does...

Do a search on "bulb failure warning light" if all bulbs working usually because of corrosion in a bulb holder.

Don't forget that if it is a brake lamp out, that will only light up the warning lamp afetr the brake has been pressed.

The common causes are corrosion or the wrong wattage bulb. Are you sure you replaced the sidelight with the correct wattage?
I have had tail lights cause the warning due to corroded contacts. They looked ok but 5 mins with wire some wool and retensioned and the bulb was a lot brighter, and the warning light went out.

Hi

I would check the wattage, there are 5 & 10 watt sidelight bulbs, the 124 takes the higher wattage one and the light will stay on inside if the incorrect lower wattage one is used.
MB 124 manual says tail lamps 10W, licence plate 5W (festoon bulb), stop lamps 21W, turn signal 21W, parking lamps 4W, etc
