First post, so please be gentle, card is behind the bar for anyone that wants a beer.

Got hold of this fine peice of german engineering a month ago, and its giving me a few niggles. Super car with 200k on it, and a bit of rust on the front, giving away its life as a repmobile.

A bit of background, i had to get it recovered by my mate, from Suffolk, and it was electrically dead, had to be jumped into life to get it on the trailer , and then taken to another mate for an MOT, and at this point we still hadn't agreed to take the car on, so i was keen to know if it was OK or not. It passed the MOT, and according to the guys, was in suprisingly good mechanical nick , apart from the battery, which was needed some help to get it going.

Anyway, bought it home, cleaned it, and set to sorting out the niggles.

Both front windows and the electric mirrors dont work, so i pull the fuses, and its sorted it for a few days. The car needs jumping when its very cold, but is OK , which is down to the battery being dry, which i topped up yesterday.

I've pulled the fuses again, but this time , it hasnt worked, and as i'm s%&& with electrics, and have no manual, i read through all the old threads on here and see so many 'model specific' cures, but none for my beast.

I see that pulling the battery lead off for a bit seems to be a bit of a 'cure all' that resets stuff, but i dont want to fix this and cock up something else.

Where are the relays for the windows ??

Also , digital speedo display is corrupted, but once a week works fine, which is no big deal, but if its an easy fix, i'll do it.

Also the fuel pump is noisy, and when you pull the fuel cap off, there is a whoosh as air goes into the tank, which tells me the breathers are blocked, but i dont know where the pump/sender is located yet, so i'm off to look at that now.

Thanks in advance

Phil

Any reason why you do not get a new battery, or is the fitted OK

re the fuel tank, that is normal and made to be that way
