Hi All

New to this forum. :D
I have a 1988 230CE (124 series) in mint condition. Only done 83,000 miles, FSH, plus MOT's to verify milage. Its lowered, has 17inch AMG's, but is missing the crucial leather.
Now heres the problem. I have found someone selling black leather interior/door cards from a E220 coupe (1994). He said it would go straight in but i'm not sure. I have called several Merc garages which gave me varied opinions. The interior is going quite cheap so i'd like to snap it up. How can i find out whether it would fit? This guy is based in Edinburgh, and me in London, so viewing before hand isn't an option. He will deliver for a reasonable price...
Also, my car is beige inside. Do you guys think black leather would look dumb?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I believe they'll go straight in.

If you've seen the newer (post 1990???) door panels, you'll notice they have a different design and shape, i.e. pockets in the door, no ashtray, etc.

Yes it will go straight in.

I've done the exact same job on my W124 CE. Its a time consuming job but oh so worth it. Try and get the other bits like carpets and lower dash panels and other trim & stuff, not just the seats and door cards as two toning the interior may or may not work out nice and its very difficult to judge until you've tried.

If the price is right and the guy has all the other interior bits, I'd get in that rental van (you'll need it) and drive straight up there and get it before someone else does. If its any help, you should be able to get a complete creme CE interior for about £750 all in from a MB breakers

Whichever way you go, if you want a hand fitting it, I'm in London and would be happy to help out and as I have said, I have done it before
