I am thinking of buying one of these systems from V-Tech UK. Does anyone have any experience of this kit and what are the pro's and con's ??? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanx.

Carsoft v8.0

When I was looking into diagnostics, never came across WinStar.

I opted for Carsoft v8.0, which is expensive, but if you can write off the VAT and tax, cost in future resale value, and the possibilty of it saving you money on car fault analysis outside of Stealership, then the figures add up.

I only have 3 complaints now with Carsoft:
1) Cant research there database... you have to read a fault out of one of the many ECUs first then it will display you a detailed check and analytical report regarding that fault. Fine, but as 1 fault may be triggered by another, it would be nice to cross reference other fault codes and there symptoms/remedies.
2) Time taken to perform a full diagnostic, circa 30-40minutes on an ML and a C.
3) Dongle protection is a pain in the butt!

v8 has more features for adaptation, coding, live analysis etc,so useful. Just lacks some of the finer coding parameters, such as COMAND programming (other than D2B bus).

If its in your price range, get in contact with Carsoft International or Maverick Technologies and get a demo version (dongle limits number of uses).
